ghosty getaway

This weekend Josh and I decided on a whim to getaway from Portland and spend another night out at the Grand Lodge. When I called they had a king, queen, and bunk rooms available- we took the bunks! They're only $40 a night. We got out there early in the evening, got some pizza, Guiness, a movie and we were set. Remember last time I mentioned room 221 is haunted? Well GUESS which room we stayed in?! 220! Just next door. They have a ghost log at the front desk full of spooky stories from people have spent the night or just visited and I was tempted to check it regarding our room but Josh knew better and recommended I wait til the morning so I could actually get some sleep. Of COURSE I was still scared (ghosts terrify me) and convinced him to move the top bunk's mattress onto the floor so we could stay next to each other and I could be protected in the cage of the bottom bunk/him on one side- ahahahaha. The next day the only thing I really found in the ghost log was something about the energy changing for one woman. Maybe she was just drunk? DOUBT IT.

We took a dip in the soaking pool and there was still snow on the ground- so lovely. The next day we drove out to Hagg Lake for a little hike. Lots of snow out there too!

Yay weekends!

wine and snow

This past weekend was romantical wine and snow getaway- and it totally flooded. Water in the valley, water on the mountain- Mt. Hood Meadows got 3 inches of rain in 2 hours! And .5 inch an hour every hour after that. That's just crazy. Of course the day after we leave the flurries start in again- oh well. Hopefully we'll be back up there again soon! McMen's Grand Lodge was fun except for the fact that our radiator was having a nervous breakdown- it honestly sounded like someone was banging the place down with a crowbar. Awful. They gave us a $10 gift card for some beers which takes the edge off a lil but may I recommend you never stay in room #5... OR #221, it's haunted.

The Grand Lodge was once an orphanage, then and old pals' home.
